Malaysia Tax Brackets 2026

Malaysia Tax Brackets — 2026

Here is a breakdown of the 2026 personal income tax brackets for Malaysia, shown in MYR.

Taxable income Rate
RM0 – RM51,700 6.6%
RM51,700 – RM206,800 12.6%
RM206,800 – RM446,500 18.6%
RM446,500 – RM855,400 24.6%
RM855,400 – RM1,090,000 30%
Over RM1,090,000 30%

How brackets work

A progressive bracket system only taxes the portion of income that falls inside each band at that band's rate — not your entire income at the top rate you reach. For example, if the first RM51,700 of income is taxed at a lower rate, only income above that threshold is taxed at the next rate up.

Worked example: RM446,500 income

  • RM0–RM51,700 at 6.6% → RM3,412
  • RM51,700–RM206,800 at 12.6% → RM19,543
  • RM206,800–RM446,500 at 18.6% → RM44,584
  • Total estimated tax: RM67,539 (15.1% effective rate)

This is the estimated tax before any deductions or credits are applied — see the deductions guide for what could lower this further. Run your own numbers with the calculator above to see exactly how much of your income falls into each bracket.

Always verify current-year brackets with Malaysia's tax authority before filing.
